“Game Over" - New Release from V V Brown

‘Soundclashing whirlwind’ V V Brown will release her brand new single “Game Over” on September 21st through Island Records.  V V, whose beautiful debut album ”Travelling Like The Light” has just been released to huge critical acclaim, has had a busy summer wowing festival crowds at Glastonbury, T In The Park, Lovebox, Camp Bestival and Secret Garden Party.  She will also bring her unique brand of exhilarating pop to V Festival in August and Bestival in September. V V first came to the world’s attention after landing an upfront slot on ‘Later With Jools Holland’.  Her performance on the show won her a lot of admirers including Damon Albarn who invited her to perform on his Africa Express adventure in Lagos, which provided inspiration for the song ‘Game Over’.  Says V V: “The Africa Express trip inspired me to get more involved in African music so we experimented with African sounds and beats and came up with a lyric about the ending of a relationship. I got the opportunity to play my new melodica on it as well!” Having been tipped in Vogue, V V is fast becoming something of a fashion darling. She was personally asked to perform during cool designer Ashish’s London Fashion Week show earlier this year and strutted her stuff for Naomi Cambell’s ‘Fashion Relief’.  Her love of fashion has recently led her to set up her own online vintage webstore ‘V V Vintage’ (vvvintage.com) and she is collaborating with a dress maker on clothes for the video for the forthcoming single.. Music has always been a massive part of V V‘s life.  The Northampton born, London based artist, writes and produces all her own music.  The eldest of six children, she learned to play the piano, developed her vocals and took classical and jazz piano lessons at a musical arts school which she attended at  weekends.  Early influences included Ruth Brown, Elvis Presley and, just as importantly, the music from Super Marioland.  Travelling Like The Light” is a perfect introduction to the 25-year old’s sound.  In V V‘s world, love sounds like the perfect melody.  Both are difficult to define she says, but both pour out of the songs on her debut album.  It’s about letting out all these ideas I’ve had locked up in my mind,” Brown states.  It’s honest - it’s not about being festooned with £10m diamonds or having perfect hair.
