Island Records is proud to announce the launch of a new live initiative; Island Life. Life will provide a platform for the new breed of Island acts. Kicking off the showcases will be a night in East London and a UK-wide tour. On October 8th the Queen of Hoxton will reverberate to the sounds of UK pop’s stellar new pixie Coco Sumner AKA I Blame Coco . Support from Pete Lawrie (more of which below) and this year’s brightest new producer/hitmaker Starsmith. Also on the decks will be the Island Records All Star DJs while our friends at Red Stripe have kindly offered to supply free beer to the first 250 people through the door. Jackson Tennessee born, London based singer-songwriter Lauren Pritchard, a new artist with a remarkable voice and a rare song-writing talent to match, follows the release of her acclaimed debut “The Jackson Sessions” ep with the release on July 19th of her new Island ep “ Painkillers ” . Written by the 22 year old Pritchard and produced by Eg White, best known for co-writing and producing Adele’s Grammy-winning classic hit “Chasing Pavements” and Duffy’s worldwide smash “Warwick Avenue”, the track features legendary sticksman and Roots founder Questlove on drums. “The Jackson Sessions”, the debut ep from Lauren Pritchard , a new artist with a remarkable voice and a rare song-writing talent to match, will be released on May 3rd through Island Records. The EP begins with the captivating “ When The Night Kills The Day ”. Written by Lauren and Ed Harcourt, the song features Marcus and Ted from Mumford & Sons who were heard and early version and loved the song so much they ended up producing it, their first independent production. The remaining three songs on the EP, “Stuck”, “No Way” and “Bad Time To Fall”, were produced by Eg White, who has produced the bulk of 22 year old Lauren’s debut album “ Wasted In Jackson ”.  Lauren Pritchard was born and raised in Jackson Tennessee, your archetypal deep south small town USA.
